# AffiliateBase

> AffiliateBase is an affiliate program platform for Stripe-based SaaS and subscription businesses. It tracks affiliate referrals, attributes Stripe payments to affiliates, calculates commissions, and pays affiliates by Stripe transfer from the merchant's own Stripe balance or through PayPal/Wise payout exports.

Key facts:

- Merchants connect Stripe, install a tracking script, and pass the generated referral ID to Stripe Checkout as `client_reference_id`.
- Affiliates sign up through a branded affiliate portal and share tracked links.
- Payouts are started by the merchant (or its API integration), not on an automatic schedule. With Stripe payouts, each payout is a Stripe Connect transfer from the merchant's Stripe balance; AffiliateBase never holds funds. PayPal and Wise are export files the merchant pays outside AffiliateBase.
- Developers can use the REST API (API keys), outbound webhooks, and an MCP server at https://app.affiliatebase.io/mcp for AI clients (ChatGPT connects with sign-in; local tools use connector tokens).
